My grade four and five students got the opportunity to have their work shown in a real art gallery.

My students are loving this project. I have done it before, but this year the kids seem to be having way more fun. The only thing I had done differently is to give them the directions written backwards.

I am lucky enough to work with an inspiring young teenage artist who just happens to be quadraplegic. Chelsea is a constant source of inspiration. I told my friend and playwright Lindsay Price about her and Lindsay interviewed me about the creative process and how our work together started. Here is a link to the interview.

Hi Kelly,
Just learned there is a 50/50 chance the Graphic Design and Photography position will open here at Shanghai American School, Pudong campus. If you know a good person who might be looking, let them know!
HKIS will be hosting the ARARTE Weekend Workshop October 18-20, 2013. Time for you to do another fabulous workshop??
Hope things are going well since you've returned. Joan
Kelly,
Just wanted to drop a note to say that Elise and I shared your really great video with the rest of our department this afternoon at our PK-12 department meeting. Lots of comments of regret on what they missed out on! Yep, that would be right! A pretty great weekend - AGAIN. And thanks so much for putting together the video. No one as of yet has definitely stepped up for hosting the 2013 workshop. If you've got a vibe, pass it along. Great stuff. Thanks!
Joan
Year 3 are ages 7-8 yrs. old. They are 22 students.
Primary students (yr 1-6) is around 120. Secondary- 43 students.
If this is successful then you're the first school that we're going received ATC.
By the way here, is my email ad- (lara@gnischina.com), China is blocking most of the site. Sometimes it's difficult to open this website.
Thanks!
Lara

This sounds absalutely perfect! Will I still have to register my school and is the price still the same?
Lia
I am definately interested in attending but it is unlike that my school will fund for the training. Tjherefore it will be a personal training session.Would it be possible to just attend from the 9-10th as they will not provide cover for friday?
Many thanks,
Lia
I tried uploading a couple of attachements to this ning site, but it didn't quite work. I'm happy to send both the Beijing and New Delhi weekend descriptions from the first two years if you are fine with sending your email. My address is jlueth@isb.bj.edu.cn.
We would strongly encourage you to structure the weekend around this basic frame-work with unique aspects of Singapore drawn in as well. Part of the original development of this particular workshop concept grew from conversations with art educators coming up with their ‘ideal’ art specific weekend after so many of us have had to make do and awkwardly adapt other conference sessions to our art practice. These 3 things came through loud and clear; we want to create art, we want to share ideas and student work, and we want to engage with the location the workshop takes place.
I ended up missing the New Delhi workshop last October due to a return trip to the states for family business, but the evaluation feedback was again so positive. I’m very much looking forward to EARCOS and some warm weather! It will be a nice to return to familiar territory for you!
Cheers, Joan
Great to learn as well that you will be presenting at EARCOS in Manila in March, me too! The time of the session has changed a couple of times and I'm not sure where it landed in the end. I'll be tending to some of those details this week.
Good to be in touch, Joan
