I was introduced and fell inlove with the website Photojojo after reading one of our brilliant member's blog, The Carrot Revolution. A big thank you to David for having this website in his blog!

Photojojo is a photographer's paradise of fun and inspirational photography projects, making your own lenses, news about interesting photography products and many more. I came across the article about scanography. A self-portrait project coined 'Face your pockets' where items from the pockets of your bag are placed onto a scanner, adding your own face, press scan and presto; a self portrait and scanography is born!

In class, the children had brought in 5 items from home that represents them. The items had to be small in size in order to fit on the scanner. We looked at different examples of self- portraits and discussed about the placements of the objects around the face. The children then organised their 5 items before I scanned their portraits. The children were also encouraged to keep their eyes closed throughout the scan.

Though the organisation of scanning took a while, 17 children, one scanner; the results are some fabulous self potraits that is a breath of fresh air from the repeated painted self- portraits. The children really enjoyed the fact that their portraits were instant.
