Missing Asia

As the editor of SchoolArts Magazine (www.schoolartsonline.com) and a practicing elementary art teacher, I don't teach in Asia but I have had the fortunate opportunity to teach and visit schools in China and Japan. One of my missions now is to get back there as soon as I can!

Several years ago I spent two weeks in China, teaching in an elementary school in Beijing and talking to administrators and teachers in Beijing and Guangzou. And this summer I was a participant in the Japan Fulbright Memorial Teacher Program in Japan.

I would also like to encourage all of you to write articles about your experiences (and successful lessons) for SchoolArts. We have online articles as well as print that would work well for your audience. We have writer's guidelines on our website and you can always ask me questions anytime.

nancy, i've met you before, where ???? i'll be seeing you this summer in santa fe. i'll be leaving Guangzhou, China in two years. My husband he director of the school will be joining me too . Perfect time to have informal interview ????  jaci

You should try to go to the Children's Palace - the one we visited had unbelievable resources, including computer labs.

How did you happen to get to teach in China? What grades do you teach? I am very curious about it all!

Now you actually have to write the articles, now that I know about them! When I was in Guanzhou, we talked to a big group of art teachers at the Children's Palace. Do you have any contact with them?
